John Tacinelli, who lives in Plainville and runs the Tacinelli Agency on Main Street, was arrested on Jan. 17 after a lengthy investigation by the police department's narcotics team. He is free on bail and is due in court Monday.
Police spokesman Sgt. Lowell DePalma said Tacinelli was arrested as he drove down Queen Street on Jan. 17. Officers who arrested him found three bags of marijuana in the car, DePalma said.
The same day Tacinelli was arrested, police also searched his agency on Main Street and his home at 43 South Washington St. in Plainville. DePalma said police found drugs at the home and the office.
Police have charged Tacinelli with three counts of possession of marijuana with intent to sell and two counts of sale of marijuana. DePalma said more charges are expected in the case.
The Tacinelli Agency has been in town for many years.
Police in Plainville received information about possible drug activity by Tacinelli on their own some time ago and are working on a separate investigation, said Plainville police Lt. Brian Mullins. He said that investigation may also result in more charges against Tacinelli.
When police searched Tacinelli's home they also arrested his daughter, 20-year-old Jessica Tacinelli, Mullins said. She is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of narcotics.
