In August 2009, Griffin and a friend from the gang 'Get 'Em Boys' went to a party they heard about on Facebook in Country Club Hills. When he was leaving and returning to his car, Griffin says they were followed by 20 - 30 members of the 'Renegades' gang who wanted to fight. Griffin's friend began fighting the group, so Griffin pulled a .32 caliber gun from under the driver's seat, fired in the air, and then shot several times into the crowd. Griffin then drove off and tossed the gun onto the expressway."
