America's Most Wanted gunman acquitted | Toronto & GTA | News | Toronto Sun: "Toronto man accused in the cold-blooded execution of a security guard at a Scarborough club was acquitted Friday.
Richard Emile Newman, 39, who was once featured on America’s Most Wanted TV show, was exonerated after four days of deliberations by a jury.
He faced a first-degree murder charge in the Aug. 4, 2002, shooting of Rhoan Gooden, 32, inside the Tropical Nights bar at Victoria Park and Danforth Aves.
Gooden, a married father of two children, died two days later.
The defence asserted there were several other “troublemakers” present at the time of the shooting who could be the real shooter.
The jury was never told Newman is now serving a 12-year sentence after a gun battle in Brooklyn, N.Y., with U.S. marshals."
